4/28/08 Meeting Re-cap...

Hi Anglers, Good meeting last night. Always wish the turnout will be better, but many thanks to everyone who could attend.
Tree plantings will be every Tuesday in May. The first of the year will be next Tuesday May 6. You will find the directions below for the first planting. Plantings are at 6:00pm. However, Dan Noyes will be meeting anyone who wants to carpool at the Mac Donald's in Mo Vegas at 5:30pm.
One of the topics of discussion last night was the Lamoille County Field Days. Christina wanted to know if LRAA would help man a booth at the field days in conjunction with her office during the period of July 18 to July 20.
Maybe some anglers could help out with fly casting or fly tying at the booth This an outreach program. Busy time for folks, but if you can help, speak up.
How about a BBQ to celebrate the end of the tree plantings and do a little fishing? Mike and Chris suggested that we come down to 10 Bends during the first week of June and enjoy the stocked pond and or fish Drakes on the river. We could cook out, discuss business and of course have some fun. Need feed back from fellow anglers to see who is interested. What do you think?????
Hope to see everyone this Tuesday May 6 for the plantings in Hardwick.

Newsletter/Mailings- Dan to work on newsletter next week. We’ve tried conveying info via e-mail. Need to get good emails from members. Need to send out postal mailing requesting current e-mail addresses. Treasurer has most current e-mail listserv. Rich Marron to e-mail meeting notices to membership before each meeting. Send one two weeks in advance then follow-up a few days pre-meeting. Next meeting 1-30-08 as will be no meeting X-mas week. Decided to revert to meeting schedule mandated by the bylaws. Phil Dudley volunteered to solicit Fly Rod Shop/Bob Shannon for membership renewal/financial support. Willy Dietrich to work with Treasurer’s to develop a good email list. Will do this first via a postal mailing.

Spring Plantings- there is a program up at Peoples Academy that could assist with our spring plantings. They have assisted in planting in past. May want to seek partnerships to help with plantings. USFWS Partners in Wildlife program administered by Chris Smith could help. Continue to work with Christina @ the LCNC on tree planting sites. LRAA goal is to plant larger tree stock vs. numbers. Mike to speak with Tom Hirshak about buffers on his properties.

Rail Trail- discussion of maintenance practices need along the Rail trail. LRAA is concerned over sedimentation resulting for trail uses affecting the River. Dan Noyes is on the Bike Path Committee and will monitor and recommend practices consistent with good river stewardship.

Poker Tournament Fundraiser- deferred this discussion to Jan meeting as Mike/Chris not in attendance.

Speakers- Discussed possible guest speaker i.e. Brian Chipman VFW Biologist others. Decided to table speakers till later in the year so LRAA can focus on organizational building work.

Stressed that all members need to pass out membership applications and recruit new members and get others active in LRAA activities.

Respectfully,

Michael Bard, LRAA Secretary
