Yup...it's Snowing

Shooting Tying Video
It's a good thing I've still got a decent amount of firewood left in the shed 'cause it's cold outside! We've gotten about an inch or so of snow here at the shop and it's still flurrying out there. Unfortunately, it looks like this is the only precipitation of any form that we'll be seeing for at least the remainder of the week. This doesn't bode well for water levels which are currently well below seasonal averages. Water temps are still pretty darn cold too, so you'll have to work hard for your fish this week.
I started prepping my boat this week and found several leaky fuel lines, so no fishing for me until the boat is up and running for the season. The pre-spawn bass fishing is really picking up and I wanna be ready!
Wild Lamoille Brown Trout Release
Mike fished the Lamoille a little this week and was able to drum up a fish or 2 (including a real nice wild brown) on wired stonefly nymphs that we tie here at the shop. The steelhead runs up north are consistently inconsistent thanks again to lower-than-average flows all around. The majority of the steelhead action has naturally been on the heels of high water like we had for a few days last week.
Bubba just finished shooting our next fly tying video which will be released at 10am on May 6th here and on our Youtube Channel. This pattern is pretty cool, so tune in and get tying!
We have a couple events coming up and we'd love to have your help! Green Up Day is May 7th and we'll once again be teaming up with Trout Unlimited to tackle some greening up within the Lamoille Valley. Keep an eye on our River Cleanup Page for updated details on that event and please consider lending a hand to clean up our rivers! Trout Unlimited is hosting a BBQ lunch afterwards, so there's a bit more incentive to help out!
On May 14th, we will be planting 135, 8-10' trees along the Lamoille River in Hyde Park as part of a several phase riparian zone enhancement project. This is a large job, but well organized, so with enough help we can bang it out quickly....and TU is grilling up some burgers and dogs afterwards! We have at least 15 volunteers committed, but we need more so get in touch with us asap! Call 802-644-2214 or email to let us know you'd like to help! We need ya!
