From Warm to Cold and Back Again

My son Noah sporting his "Grip n' Grin" pose
After doing a number of days on the bass water, it was nice this morning to get back on the trout stream.  I fished with two raw beginners and they learned a great deal about the sport and even tugged on a few fish!  The fiah were a tad picky this morning, but when accurate casts were made, the fish would pounce on that fly.  We fished a royal stimulator in a size 12 and didn't change it out hardly at all.  The fish would only tolerate a couple badly-placed casts before shutting down, so we had to make really accurate casts to earn our hookups.
The Lamoille will most certainly be up in the 70's today, and with 80 days & 60 nights forecast for this week, that will be the scenario for the next several days.  You might find cooler water in the earliest hours of the day, but better off to just fish tribs or target warm water fish until things cool off.
The bass fishing was great this week, and we've been out on the boat as much as possible taking advantage of the bite.  The first couple hours of daylight are best, so get up early and get your bass game on!
Big bass on spin tackle with Matt Applebaum
Our partnership with Matt Applebaum of Bass Fishing Vermont has been going great this season, and we've sent some happy guests out with Matt so far.  If you want to catch fish and fly fishing isn't your thing, we've got the guide for you!

Tomorrow we have the very talented Pat Cohen coming all the way from NY state to lead a class on spinning deer hair.  We still have some space and we'll be having a bbq following the class, so please come on down if you're around!  The class is from 3-6pm and the cost is $30/person which covers instruction and materials.  Yes,
this is a hands on class, so bring your vise and learn from one of the best tyers in the industry!  Feel free to come and watch as well.  We'd love to have you!

We've already got over 50 anglers registered for the 2012 Ditch Pickle Classic, and we're still registering teams on an almost daily basis, so get your a$$ in gear and get your team registered for this great event!
